Press Release: Kickstarter Campaign Helps Southern Californians Drink Better Bloody Marys

Long Beach Based Author Publishes ComprehensiveGuide to Finding the Best Bloody Marys in LA and the OC

Long Beach, CA – On October 3, 2013, Long Beach based author Shelley Buchanan launched a 28-day Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $3,000 to cover costs associated with publishing The Drunken Tomato: A Definitive Guide to the Best Bloody Marys in Los Angeles and Orange County.  With just two days left in the campaign, Buchanan is seeking to raise the remaining 42% of her funding goal.

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform for creative projects where backers pledge money in exchange for rewards.  As an all-or-nothing platform, if a project meets its funding goal, backers receive their rewards and the project creator receives the backers’ pledges.  However, if a project does not meet its funding goal, no money or rewards change hands.

Buchanan is utilizing Kickstarter to cover various publishing costs, including cover design, interior design and page layout, editing and the initial costs of printing the book.  Pledge levels range from $5 to $100 and offer rewards such as print and digital editions of the book, a limited edition T-shirt, and an all-inclusive “Bloody Mary Enthusiast Package.”

With over ninety in-depth reviews accompanied by detailed, full-color photos, The Drunken Tomato is the only comprehensive bloody mary city guidebook in the United States, offering both first-time visitors and long-time residents a unique bloody mary-filled journey through the best cocktail-slinging bars and restaurants in Southern California.
