Long Beach, CA, Jan. 4, 2014 – After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Long Beach based author Shelley Buchanan published The Drunken Tomato: A Definitive Guide to the Best Bloody Marys in Los Angeles and Orange County.  With over ninety in-depth reviews accompanied by detailed, full-color photos, The Drunken Tomato is the first and only comprehensive bloody mary city guidebook in the United States.

Buchanan utilized Kickstarter, a crowd-funding platform, to cover various publishing costs, including cover design, interior design, editing and initial printing costs.  In exchange for pledges, Kickstarter backers received rewards ranging from print and digital editions of the book to a limited edition T-shirt to an all-inclusive “Bloody Mary Enthusiast Package” and more.

The Drunken Tomato features eleven chapters, each covering one area of Los Angeles or Orange County.  With reviews, photographs and contact information for each establishment, the 126-page guidebook shows readers exactly what to expect and where to find the best bloody marys in each neighborhood.  Coinciding with National Bloody Mary Day, the book was released on January 1st.
